Imagine applying a lotion onto your face that feels luxurious and smells wonderful. As your face begins to radiate with a youthful glow, you also begin notice your anxiety slipping away. Suddenly you're feeling cheerful and optimistic—a feeling that carries you throughout the day.

Say you have an important job interview in which it is imperative that you look and feel your best. What if your shampoo and conditioner could give you the competitive edge you're looking for by giving your hair and your self-confidence a boost?

If this sounds futuristic, you are not fully aware of the effects and benefits of aromatherapy. Aromatherapy products have the ability to lift your spirits and enhance your soul as they regenerate skin cells and hair follicles to a more youthful state.

These products are not reserved for the rich and famous. In fact they can be created easily and inexpensively by you in your own home. They can even be customized to create the physiological and emotional effects you are in need of at the time.

Madame Marguerite Maury, an Austrian-born biochemist used aromatherapy treatments for her clients' cosmetic problems. As their skin improved, her clients also reported pleasant and surprising side effects such as better sleep, pain relief, increased mental awareness and an overall better feeling.

Dr. Jean Valnet was a French physician who used essential oils to treat wounded soldiers in World War Two. After the war he continued using essential oils in his practice, finding them effective for both psychiatric and medical conditions.

Because the essential oils are absorbed into the limbic system, they can trigger the release of brain-enhancing neurochemicals and endorphins to stimulate or relax the mind, causing an effect on mood, emotion, memory, learning retention and libido.

The easiest way to incorporate the aromatherapy into skin and hair care is to add a few drops of essential oils into natural unscented shampoos, conditioners and lotions, based on the therapeutic and emotional properties of the individual essential oils. With a little training, education and experience a person can begin creating effective custom formulas that will enhance both body and soul.
